Heron Copier copies trades from a DXtrade master to as many slave accounts as you need, and copies any other supported platform into DXtrade. DXtrade can sit on either side of MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradeLocker, MatchTrader, other DXtrade accounts, and Tradovate, Rithmic and TopstepX futures accounts.
DXtrade is made by Devexperts and is offered by brokers and prop firms. Heron Copier connects with your DXtrade login, password and broker. You can run it in the Heron Copier cloud with nothing to install, or with the local version on your own VPS. Every paid license includes both.
What one request per second means for copying
DXtrade's API accepts about one request per second. Opening a trade, changing its stop loss or take profit, and closing it are each a request. When the master opens several trades at once, they are copied to a DXtrade slave one after another rather than all at the same moment.
A DXtrade master is read at the same pace, so a scalp that opens and closes within a few seconds can reach the slaves with a short delay. For that reason DXtrade suits swing and intraday trading better than scalping or high-frequency strategies. If you scalp, MT4, MT5, cTrader and MatchTrader accept 500 requests per minute or more.
Hedging or netting, set by the broker
Each DXtrade broker decides whether an account is hedging or netting. On a hedging account every copied trade is its own position, so the slave mirrors the master trade for trade.
On a netting account, trades on the same symbol merge into one position. If your master holds a buy and a sell on the same symbol at once, which MT4 and hedging MT5 accounts allow, a netting DXtrade slave cannot keep them apart. Ask your broker which type your account is before you copy a hedging strategy to it.
Popular DXtrade routes
A typical setup keeps the strategy or EA on MetaTrader and copies it to a DXtrade account with MT5 to DXtrade or MT4 to DXtrade. Or you trade on DXtrade and copy out with DXtrade to MT5 or DXtrade to MatchTrader. DXtrade to DXtrade spreads one plan across several accounts, even at different firms.
Futures work too. With DXtrade to Tradovate, the master's lots are converted to whole contracts, and symbol aliases such as NAS100=MNQ map CFD symbols to futures.
DXtrade symbol names are set by each broker or prop firm. Heron Copier tries auto symbol mapping when a name doesn't match, and you can add a suffix or explicit aliases on the slave, with a lot multiplier per symbol where contract sizes differ.
Risk settings on DXtrade slaves
Every DXtrade slave has its own settings, so accounts of different sizes can copy the same master.
- Six volume sizing methods, from Equity-to-Equity (the default) to Fixed Risk by percentage or by amount. The Fixed Risk methods need a stop loss on the master trade.
- Global and per-symbol lot size caps.
- Block trades that arrive without a stop loss or take profit.
- Balance or equity thresholds that close positions and stop copying before a drawdown limit is hit.
- Symbol whitelist and blacklist, and reverse copying.
Partial closes and blocked API access
Partial closes are not copied to DXtrade slaves. It is a known limitation of the platform connection, so if you scale out of trades, a slave on MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradeLocker or a futures platform is a better fit. The same applies the other way round: a DXtrade master does not pass partial closes on to its slaves yet, only full closes.
Some prop firms block API access on their DXtrade accounts, which stops every API-based copier. The local version offers a Non-API mode for DXtrade slaves that works through the web platform in Google Chrome instead. It is less reliable than the API, supports only Lot Multiplier and Fixed Lot sizing, and should be a last resort. See the list of prop firms that block API access and API vs Non-API mode in the docs, and check your prop firm's rules first.
Cloud or local
In the cloud, add the DXtrade account in the dashboard and click Launch. It is usually online in under 60 seconds and keeps copying while your computer is off.
The local version runs a DXtrade copier app on your own Windows VPS or PC, opened from the Heron Copier Connector, with no limit on accounts. Trades are sent from your own IP address, which some prop firms require. You can save each setup as a profile and load it after a restart.

Frequently asked questions
Is DXtrade fast enough for scalping?
Usually not. DXtrade accepts about one API request per second, so bursts of trades are copied one after another and very short trades can arrive late. It works well for swing and intraday trading.
Can I copy DXtrade trades to MT5?
Yes. Add the DXtrade account as the master and the MT5 account as the slave. Every supported trading platform can be a master or a slave. See DXtrade to MT5.
Does it work with netting DXtrade accounts?
Yes, but trades on the same symbol merge into one position on a netting account. If your master opens opposite trades on one symbol, use a hedging DXtrade account for the slave.
Are partial closes copied to DXtrade?
No. Partial closes are not supported on DXtrade slaves. They are supported on MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradeLocker, Tradovate, Rithmic and TopstepX slaves.
My prop firm blocks the DXtrade API. What can I do?
You can try the Non-API mode of the local version, which needs Google Chrome on your VPS or PC. It supports only Lot Multiplier and Fixed Lot sizing and is less reliable than the API, so test it on a demo first and check that your prop firm allows copiers.
