MatchTrader Trade Copier

Copy trades into and out of MatchTrader accounts, with no terminal to keep open and nothing to install in the cloud.

Heron Copier copies every trade from a MatchTrader master to as many slave accounts as you need, and copies any other supported platform into MatchTrader. A MatchTrader master can feed other MatchTrader accounts, MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradeLocker, DXtrade, and futures accounts on Tradovate, Rithmic and TopstepX.

MatchTrader is made by Match-Trade Technologies and runs in the browser, and it is a common choice at prop firms. Heron Copier connects to the account directly with your MatchTrader login, password and broker. It runs in the Heron Copier cloud or on your own VPS, and every paid license includes both.

A copier for a platform with no EAs

On MetaTrader, a trade copier is usually an Expert Advisor that lives in a terminal. MatchTrader has no terminal and nowhere to attach an EA: you trade in a browser tab or on your phone. So Heron Copier works with the account through MatchTrader's API instead of through a chart.

In the cloud, you add the account in the dashboard, choose master or slave, and click Launch. It is usually copying in under 60 seconds, and keeps copying after you close the browser and switch off your computer.

MatchTrader to MT5, MT5 to MatchTrader, and more

A typical setup is MT5 to MatchTrader: your strategy or EA runs on a MetaTrader account, and the prop firm challenge you want to pass runs on MatchTrader. The reverse works too. With MatchTrader to MT5 or MatchTrader to cTrader you trade in the MatchTrader web platform and your other accounts follow.

To run one plan across several challenges or funded accounts, use MatchTrader to MatchTrader. The accounts can be at different prop firms. You can also mirror MatchTrader CFD trades as futures, for example MatchTrader to Tradovate, where lots are converted to whole contracts.

Prop firm symbol names

Each broker or prop firm sets its own MatchTrader symbol names, so the same index or metal can be named differently on your master and on the slave. Check the slave's symbol list first.

When a symbol is not found, Heron Copier tries auto symbol mapping, which handles broker suffixes and spellings such as EUR/USD and EURUSD. Names that are completely different, such as US30 and DJ30, need a symbol alias on the slave, for example US30.cash=DJ30. Add a lot multiplier after a pipe, such as NAS100=US100|0.1, where the contract sizes of the two brokers differ.

500 requests per minute, one position at a time

MatchTrader accepts about 500 API requests per minute, the same as cTrader and far more than the roughly one request per second of DXtrade and TradeLocker. Platforms with very low limits are the ones to avoid for scalping; MatchTrader is not one of them.

MatchTrader tracks positions one by one, like a hedging account. Each trade on the master becomes its own position on a MatchTrader slave, so a buy and a sell on the same symbol stay separate, and closing one does not touch the other.

Settings for each prop firm account

Every MatchTrader slave has its own settings, so a small challenge and a large funded account can copy the same master.

  • Six volume sizing methods: Equity-to-Equity (the default), Lot Multiplier, Risk Multiplier, Fixed Lot, Fixed Risk by percentage and Fixed Risk by amount.
  • Global and per-symbol lot size caps.
  • Copy or ignore the master's TP and SL, and block trades that arrive without them.
  • Symbol whitelist and blacklist, to copy only the markets you want.
  • Balance or equity thresholds that close positions and stop copying before a drawdown limit is hit.
  • Reverse copying, and a random delay before each copy.

Partial closes and blocked API access

Partial closes are not copied to MatchTrader slaves. This is a known limitation of the platform connection. Partial closes do work on MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradeLocker and the futures platforms. A MatchTrader master does not pass partial closes on to its slaves yet either, only full closes.

Some prop firms block API access on their MatchTrader accounts, which stops every API-based copier. For that case the local version has a Non-API mode for MatchTrader slaves that operates the web platform in Google Chrome. It is less reliable than the API, supports only Lot Multiplier and Fixed Lot sizing, and is meant as a last resort. Our docs keep a list of prop firms that block API access and explain API and Non-API mode. Always check your prop firm's rules on copiers first.

Prefer your own VPS? Use the local version

The local version runs a MatchTrader copier app on your own Windows VPS or PC, opened from the Heron Copier Connector, with no limit on the number of accounts. Trades are sent from your own IP address. The docs cover the setup step by step.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install anything to copy MatchTrader trades?

Not for the cloud version. You enter your MatchTrader login, password and broker in the dashboard and click Launch. The local version runs a MatchTrader copier app on your own Windows VPS or PC.

Can I copy my MT5 trades to a MatchTrader prop firm account?

Yes. Add the MT5 account as the master and the MatchTrader account as the slave. If the prop firm names symbols differently, add symbol aliases on the slave. See MT5 to MatchTrader.

Are partial closes copied to MatchTrader?

No. Partial closes are not supported on MatchTrader slaves, which is a known limitation. If you scale out of trades often, consider an MT4, MT5, cTrader or TradeLocker slave.

My prop firm blocks API access on MatchTrader. Can I still copy?

Possibly, with the Non-API mode of the local version, which works through the web platform in Google Chrome instead of the API. It is less reliable, so check that your prop firm allows copiers first.

How much does it cost?

The monthly license is $19 and includes 2 cloud accounts, enough for a master and one MatchTrader slave. Extra cloud accounts are $8 a month each. The yearly license is $179. Both include the local version with unlimited accounts, and there is a 7-day free trial.
